ABOUT THE HOSFORD AUDITORIUM RESTORATION PROJECT
(UPDATED 12/12/16) In February 2016, due to safety concerns, Portland Public Schools had to remove the curtains and rigging in Hosford Middle School's auditorium. This space had not been properly maintained for nearly 30 years thanks to district budget constraints.
After many weeks of advocating, Hosford Parents were able to persuade the district to replace what was removed - the curtains. In return, the Hosford community offered to leverage other needed improvements to this unique educational space that serves as a classroom for middle school band and drama for more than 640 students each year.
In Summer 2016:
The curtains were replaced by the district (THANK YOU PPS!).
The worn stage floor was professionally resurfaced with durable PolyOnyx boards. (THANKS HOSFORD PARENTS!)
Additionally, Shu Ren of Portland (the parent group of PPS' mandarin immersion program) donated several hundred dollars to help us professionally paint the proscenium arch over winter break 2016, thus completing efforts to update this special space in our school.
Our thanks to all our donors and community partners.
The Hosford PTSA is a local unit of the Oregon PTA, a branch of the National PTA.
Our mission is to help every middle school student reach their potential by engaging and supporting our Hosford community.
