MONDAY
Video Game Design Club
Status: 11/17 Enrolling now!
Do you like Video games? Want to know what goes into making a video game? Come join the Video Game Design Club. This is where we talk about video games, what makes them interesting and how to create your own. Not into coding? That's OK. We look at the design, art, music and game play. No experience necessary.
When: Mondays starting November (exact date TBD) (6 sessions)

The Over AI-chievers Club

Equipping Today’s Kids for Tomorrow’s AI World!
Explore Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, their history, and current uses. Each week, we'll dive into different AI topics and tools with demonstrations and hands-on activities, teaching students the capabilities and limitations of AI to help them approach new technologies confidently and critically.
When: Monday 4:15-5:45 Starting 9/16 through 10/28 (7 weeks)

TUESDAY
BROADWAY BOUND: MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP
Status: Fall session running (11/17/2024)
Experience the excitement and fun involved in creating musical theater. Participants will build their skills with an experienced musical theater teacher to explore and build skills singing, easy to learn movement/dance, and how to make strong acting choices when performing musical theater. This class is for students of all ability and experience levels. Students will work towards a small performance for a small invited audience at the end of the term!
When: Tuesdays, 4:00-5:00pm, Starting 9/24/2024 - 12/10/2024 (12 weeks)
Cost: $195 for either class. $370 if you take along with Thursday’s Acting and Improv class

Blueprint Choir Club
Status: Choir does not currently have enough signups to happen Fall 2024, but see webpage to signup for interest in other local choirs (10/1/2024)
Blueprint Choir Club emphasizes teamwork while developing basic and early-intermediate musical skills.
This class brings the traditional choral experience into the 21st century with a modern attitude on group singing.
Participants will sing in various styles, performing music that promotes inclusivity and social/cultural awareness.
Choir Club lays a successful foundation for young singers to be successful as they move into high school performing arts classes.
The session culminates in a final performance for family and friends.
When: Tuesdays 4:15-5:30 starting 9/10/2024 (May not happen Fall 2024 or until we have more students on interest form)

Strategy Games Club
Status: Club is open (11/17/2024)
Meet and play strategy tabletop games Including:
Chess! - the classic strategy game
Board Games Stratego, Splendor, Tsuro, Catan etc - anything which teaches or uses strategy to win.
Card Games: Pokemon, Magic, etc.
(2-6 player games that can finish within an hour, not computer based)
When: Tuesdays after school from 4:05 - 5:00 pm, Starting 9/24/2024

Dungeons and Dragons
Status: D&D has been running at capacity. Please check with Mr. Kennedy to see if there is more room
Step into a world of magic and mystery with our Dungeons & Dragons After-School Club! Join us for thrilling campaigns where you’ll embark on epic quests, battle fearsome creatures, and unlock hidden treasures. Students will arrange in their own groups with their own Dungeon Master. If interested, please register so we can get an idea of interest and attendance.
When: Wednesdays 4:00-5:00 pm Starting 9/4 ongoing

THURSDAY
Sign Language
Come learn the basic signs of American Sign Language: we will focus on the alphabet, numbers, colors, feelings, animals and verbs.
You will learn to create sentences and have conversations with your friends!
Who knows, you may even bump into a deaf person one day and you'll be able to introduce yourself and maybe have a brief conversation.

Acting and Improv Adventures
Status: Fall session running (11/17/2024)
Be part of your own improv & acting troupe! Learn to let go and act
in the moment with your ensemble of improvisers & actors, with games and activities that develop essential performance skills. This class is for improvisers & actors of all ability levels will focus on quick thinking, active listening, communication, collaboration, and play.
Laughter and fun are guaranteed! Students will work towards a performance for a small invited audience at the end of the term!
When: Thursday 4:00-5:00 Starting 9/26/2024 - 12/14/2024
Cost: $195 ($370 for both if you take along with Broadway Bound class)
3 o clock Rock
Status: 3oclock Rock is canceled for Fall 2024, hoping to have this class happen at a future time.
3 O'Clock Rock is an after school music program to help students start bands, write songs, record them and perform live. Our programs help kids with their creative voice, expose them to new instruments (or help with ones they may already know) as well as aid them with their communication, social and interpersonal skills.
When: Thursday 4:10 - 5:25 (Currently not enough students for class. Please email if interest in future offerings.)

Intro to Python
Dive into the exciting world of coding with our Python course, designed especially for middle school students! In this hands-on adventure, you'll learn to create your own games, build cool animations, and solve fun puzzles using Python—a super popular programming language. No experience needed, just bring your curiosity and get ready to unlock the secrets of coding with Python!
When: Friday 4:10 - 5:10 pm Starting 9/27 - 12/6 (No Class: 10/11, 11/1 or 11/29)

Scholarships / Financial Assistance
The HEAT program seeks to make these activities accessible to all Hosford students. Since some classes do require a payment, the PTSA can provides scholarships to offset some or all of the cost. Please contact a school counselor, or email ptsahosford@gmail.com for more information.
About the H.E.A.T. Program
H.E.A.T. (Hosford Engaged and Active Teens) is a partnership of the Hosford Middle School and the PTSA. The H.E.A.T. program seeks to build students' social/emotional, physical, intellectual and creative competencies.
Classes are provided through a combination of activity providers and volunteer instruction. If you, or someone you know, has a skill, talent or incredible knowledge to share plus an enthusiasm for working with and teaching middle school kids, let us know!
